Kim Savit is currently Account Manager for LEIDOS Corporation. Ms. Savit also has taught several courses as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver, Josef Korbel Graduate School of International Studies. Ms. Savit retired in May 2006 from her position as the Senior Professional Staff Member for the Middle East, Central and South Asia on the Majority Staff of the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Ms. Savit joined the Committee Staff in April 2003 after twenty years as a Civil Servant in the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. where she coordinated State Department Security and Law Enforcement Assistance Programs for Europe and Eurasia and worked in cooperative threat reduction, peacekeeping and disaster relief for Defense Department. She also served as country desk officer in the Office of Secretary of Defense, Near East and South Asian Affairs Bureau. She has received numerous awards, including the U.S. Department of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service in 1995. Ms. Savit received a Master's Degree in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in 1978 and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of California at Davis in 1975.
