Executive Director Transition

November 8th, 2018

Dear WorldDenver Community

After seven years leading what has become Denver’s preeminent international affairs forum, our founder and Executive Director, Karen de Bartolome has announced her intention to retire from WorldDenver in the second quarter of 2019.  The Board has been working closely with Karen on planning for this transition and has appointed a search committee to identify our next Executive Director.

While we are saddened to say goodbye to such a beloved colleague and passionate advocate for global affairs and cross-cultural dialogue, we respect Karen’s decision to pursue new adventures post-retirement. Having created WorldDenver in 2011, she will have much to be proud of – having grown the organization’s membership from 250 to over 1200 members; developed a world-class speakers program; grown our international visitors program to be the top ten in the country; launched a new, highly successful international travel program for members; established an endowment fund; kicked off the Ben Cherrington Legacy Society; and set the organization on a firm financial footing as we continue to expand our impact in Colorado and around the world.

As we move forward in the selection process for the new Executive Director, we will continue to share information with the community. The Board strongly believes that this will be a highly attractive and competitive position with no shortage of qualified candidates.  In the meantime, it will be business as usual at WorldDenver with programming continuing in the normal course.  We have a great fall lineup planned and can’t wait to see you at our events!
