WorldDinners are a great way to introduce our foreign guests to the cultures and customs of the U.S.  Dinner hosts from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to apply - one of the goals of WorldDinners is to illustrate the diversity of American lifestyles. However, the priority for hosting international leaders is given to WorldDenver members.

The goal of WorldDinners is for international visitors to get a glimpse into the lives of everyday Americans and to experience genuine hospitality. The most important aspect of the evening is the conversation and the connections – which can have a tremendous impact on both sides.

"We really look forward to these evenings.  We learn so much about other countries and what our guests think about the U.S…this really is the next best thing to travel in terms of learning about the rest of the world.” –Margot Wynkoop, WorldDenver Member

How does it work?

Our WorldDinner hosting opportunities are posted in our bi-weekly newsletter that is sent out every other Friday. The newsletter provides information about all of WorldDenver's upcoming visitor groups, including the program topic and the countries of the visitors. If you are interested in hosting or co-hosting one of these groups, you can send an email to [email protected].

Dinner hosting involves welcoming 1-4 international visitors (depending on the size of the group and your capabilities) into your home for an evening meal. Dinners can be as simple as a pizza party with several neighbors or as elaborate as a themed dinner. Please note that we do not recommend taking visitors to restaurants, but please ask staff if this is the only option for you.

Our WorldDinners program is a unique opportunity for our members to open their homes to visitors from around the world and show them what an authentic American home-cooked meal truly means. If you don't feel like you have the space to host a dinner but are still able to provide transportation or prepare a meal for the visitors, you can apply to be a co-host!
