Timeframe: 1-2 weeks
STEP 3: Solution Design
Time to get creative!
Now that you understand the complexities of your problem and have sought community and expert perspectives on the issue, it’s time to brainstorm potential solutions with your team.
In Step 3:
- Learn what a S.M.A.R.T solution is and what makes an idea a good one
- Generate a list of all project ideas - every team member contributes!
- Decide together on the solution that best meets the SMART guidelines and that YOUR TEAM can accomplish
What is a S.M.A.R.T. solution? What makes a strong solution idea?
Time to brainstorm ideas - all team members should contribute project ideas based on what you have researched!
- Put all your ideas out there! You can write, speak, draw, or animate.
- Do these ideas align with what you learned during your community outreach?
- Did you keep in mind what innovations already exist related to this issue? Can you build on any of them?
Now apply the S.M.A.R.T. principles to your ideas!
How does each solution you proposed meet the S.M.A.R.T. guidelines? Do some fit better than others?
The goal is for your project idea to be the something that YOUR team can do!
